A tribute to Bob Havens, a Quincy resident and nationally known musician who played lead trombone in the Lawrence Welk Orchestra. Bob, now in his 80’s, remains active in playing at venues around the country. The concert will feature members of the Quincy Park Band, duets, vocals, dancers and musicians who have played with Bob over the years. He has hand-selected a number of songs he and others enjoyed playing on the Welk program and will bring these tunes alive, on stage, for one night only! This is both a tribute to Bob Havens and to the music of the Lawrence Welk Show which as you know has been on television for more than 50 years.

It’s important to note that ALL proceeds support The Quincy Washington Theater restoration efforts providing much-needed funding for the ongoing needs of the Theater. The commission, in existence since 2003 and made up entirely of volunteers, has made huge strides in securing the building’s infrastructure and proudly garnering an Illinois First Grant to help acquire the now iconic Theater Marquee. However, more revenue is needed to get the building, and our overall vision, in place. Fundraisers such as this concert help provide us with revenue, support and community awareness.

Tickets available at all Quincy and Hannibal County Market locations starting March 1. Online tickets are available at http://www.artsquincy.org/event-2110609/Registration at a cost of $12 ($10 advance ticket price plus online service charge to cover all processing fees). Groups of 10 or more can receive a group rate of $8 per ticket in advance. Tickets will be $12 at the Morrison Theater door.

Refreshments will be provided by County Market during intermission. Bob is scheduled to be on hand to meet and greet patrons as they leave the show. Commissioners will also be available to answer any questions people may have regarding the historic Washington Theater. Beautiful program booklets complete with sponsors names, photos, stories, set list, bios and more will be available at the door.
